(Memphis 7/23/2010) According to Memphis police:
On July 23, 2010, at approximately 2:05 pm, officers of the Organized Crime Unit observed a Dodge Charger at Winchester/ Graceland, driven by a driver without a seatbelt.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver, former University of Memphis basketball player, Shawne Williams, presented a drivers' license, which was suspended. Williams was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended/ Revoked/ Cancelled, and Violation of Seatbelt Law.
OCU officers checked the passenger of the vehicle, after smelling a strong odor of marijuana, and found 17.22 grams of marijuana and a loaded gun in his possession. The passenger, also a former University of Memphis basketball player, Kareem Cooper, was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Manufacture/ Deliver/ Sell and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony."
