FAST FACTS:
(Memphis 07/29/2010)The mother of Lorenzen Wright returns to the crime scene on the day police confirmed what everyone feared.
Memphis police say Wright's body was found in a Southwind area field yesterday and he had been shot in a homicide.
They used dental records to identify the body.
Deborah Marion had to be there.
It's the place where police tell her they found the body of her first born son, Lorenzen Wright.
She is one of the few allowed behind the crime scene tape to see investigators at work.
"I wanted to see the last steps my son took. That's what I wanted to see. The last steps that my son took. That was his last ones and I wanted to see them," said Marion.
Crime scene officers along with homicide detectives also returned to the scene for a second day. In the heat, they combed a wooded area looking for clues.
Sources tell News Channel 3 a bus load of police recruits was brought in to help wade through the thick brush looking for evidence on the ground.
A police helicopter hovered above.
"That's the hottest spot on this trail down there. Right where that police car is that's the hottest spot down there and I was wondering how would they get a 6' 11" guy in through that fence. Still, trying to figure that out," said Marion.
Wright's mother has no idea who would want to harm her son. Just as curious are Wright's friends and fans. They continue their vigil of driving down this trial where the body was found.
"It just makes you wonder what could trigger a person to do something like that to him because he was just so fun loving and outgoing. It's just a terrible world we live in these days," said Ken Moody, former University of Memphis basketball player.
"This was tragic. No one deserved this not even a dog. It's not worth it. Whatever it is. Money or whatever. It's not worth it. That's a human life," said Tawana Covington White.
No one is in more disbelief than Wright's mother.
Marion said, "It's crazy. It's just like I'm in a dream."
Memphis police say they are working around the clock to bring justice to Wright and his family.
