Trackside Reports with Howdy Bell
93-5 ‘KHY is proud to have Howdy Bell provide Trackside Reports once again from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 92nd running of the Indy 500 and the 2008 Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, a relationship that’s covered nearly 20 years.
Howdy Bell is a veteran racing broadcaster, starting his career at the legendary “Brickyard” in 1962 as the turn 2 announcer for the 500 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Racing Network. Howdy continued his Turn 2 broadcasting duties through 1981, taking over coverage of the backstretch action in 1982 and continuing in that role through the 1990 race. In 1991, Howdy became the on-air statistician for the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing”, and continued in that position through the 2000 race. In 2001, Howdy Bell began covering the IMS hospital, reporting on the injuries and treatment drivers received at the speedway. In all, Howdy has been a staple at the fabled yard of bricks for over 45 years!
Lafayette’s Rock and Race Station, is honored to bring you the pageantry and tradition of this historic venue, through the eyes and voice of one of it’s most storied broadcasters. |
